The Family Jen is a busy family, like most. We all have our own things going on, but often enough I am the hub of all activities. And it becomes inevitable that I end up having to remember this, that and everything. Appointments, PE days, events at school, birthdays, parties etc. This week is exceptionally busy, particularly as it’s the last week of school term. I have something to remember every day this week, right up to and including Saturday.
When the going gets busier than usual, I usually end up having to make lists, and writing things down. It’s the best way I find. But this leads to sticky notes and pieces of paper lying all over my desk. I have a mini post-it note book to the right of my keyboard. Handy, but it ends up being tatty and some of the stickiness goes, as it gets moved about and stuck and unstuck.
So imagine my delight when I saw the Post-it note dispenser. Something to keep the pieces of paper at bay, handy and not too much of an intrusion on my desk. The dispenser is a moulded mock-croc handbag, which is weighed down so it doesn’t get knocked over easily. Rather funky and quirky, yet useful too. Easy to grab the post-its, easy to use, and refillable. Uses the 7cm square notes.
Of course my girls have been eyeing it up and I fear its life on my own desk will not be for long, I suspect it will migrate upstairs to their room. They have a love for post-its too and handbag shaped things of course.
If you’re into desk accessories, that add a little fun and are useful too, then I think you’ll like this post-it note dispenser.

Appearance 4/5 It’s cute and quirky, modern and ideal for a girl’s touch to her desk. Doesn’t go entirely well with my own style, but it’s certainly better than scraps of paper strewn across the place.
Value 4/5 The Handbag dispenser costs £8.99, which includes one pad of post-it notes. Touching on a little pricey for what it is, but perhaps the right price for a quick stocking filler, or just that little something to jazz up the desk. It’s reusable of course so it’s just the refills that you need to buy afterwards.
Convenience 5/5 Very handy to have on the desk. Keeps the post-it notes clean and tidy, easy to use, and not too intrusive on the desk. A nice gift for the girly office girl or teenager.
Available to buy from Tesco, Staples and Amazon.
Also from 3M is the Scotch pop-up tape dispenser.
I have a vision for you, try to imagine this. Sticky tape stuck to all dry surfaces, in various lengths, bits of discarded tape lying about the place in sticky balls, bits of tape stuck to me, my lips hurt from biting the tape, and let’s not forget the frantic look on my face while I hunt for the ever illusive end of the tape on the roll. This is a regular scene here at this time of year as I spend hours wrapping the presents. It’s not a pretty sight.
So the Pop-up Tape dispenser looked like a really good idea for someone like me. It’s a neat little gadget that attaches to your wrist or hand, and disperses strips of sticky tape one at a time. No cutting necessary, no need to pre-cut several pieces and stick them about the place, no losing the end of the tape. What could be better?
I let Neets give it a trial run. She had some jars to wrap up for school. So we attached the strap to her wrist, but she preferred it on the hand, and off she went. It was great. You simply just put up the tape and you get one bit. Just the right length, no fuss, no mess. Neets found it really easy to use. The pre-cut strips come in pads of 75, so they do last a fair amount of time. It didn’t run out while Neets was using it.
No scissors to use and it means both your hands are free. Neets is left handed too, but it made no difference. She was able to use it regardless.

Appearance 5/5 Neat and tidy.
Value 4/5 The dispenser is available from leading supermarkets and stationary stores RRP of £2.49. The refills cost £2.69 for a pack of three pads. This is obviously going to be more expensive that a roll of sticky tape, but I found it so handy to use I’d recommend forking out for one.
Convenience 5/5 Really easy to use, no fuss, no mess, really handy.
Thanks to 3M for samples.
